Sport-Fishing in Phuket

Phuket is fast becoming a top game fishing destination in Southeast Asia. Almost every kind of fighting fish can be found around Phuket. The available fishing grounds in the Phuket area extend far beyond the nearby sea. Sport fishing can be done in Krabi, A province to the east of Phuket, and the Similan Islands located northwest of Phuket, while the west coast of Phuket is a good fishing ground and a starting point for fishing tours.

Andaman Hooker

A 16.5 meter fishing cruiser powered witha 220 hp Nissan engine. Built for comfort and comes complete with fresh water shower and toilet, GPS plotter and fish finder. She comfortably sleeps eight for those longer fishing trips.  Specialized fishing equipment includes: Penn International Shimano 12-20-30-50-80 lbs, popper rods, bottom fishing gear, all custom rods, outriggers, fighting chair, and stand up harness.

After 6 years of great fishing trips to Phuket I made the decision to go into the sport fishing business. In 1996 the opportunity to purchase the Andaman Hooker, a Thai built 55 foot sportfisher, made my dream come true. Since that day we have never looked back. Based on my experience as a fishing trip customer this has led to the Andaman Hooker changing the sportfishing scene in Phuket. New fishing grounds were explored locally and abroad. In January 2001 the Andaman Hooker was the first Phuket based sportfisher charter boat to experience the superb fishing of the Andaman Islands.

The Andaman Hooker cannot claim to be the fastest or newest charter boat in Phuket. She is however the most successful charter boat here. We have recorded numerous Phuket firsts including the first Sailfish caught fly fishing, the biggest Black Marlin (508 lbs.), 19 Sailfish in one day on strip bait and 96 GT's (Giant Trivally) ranging from 10 to 65 lbs over 12 consecutive days popper casting. Our tournament record for annual Phuket International Sportfishing Classic tournament 2nd in 1998, 3rd in 1999, and first in 2000 and 2001 clearly supports our claim to be the top charter boat in Phuket. Thanks go to the great anglers on Thailand's Team Hong Tong for tournament successes. We support the IGFA and actively encourage catch and release. We were the first, and to my knowledge the only, charter boat in Phuket that exclusively uses circle hooks for sailfish which has greatly improved our ability to release our sails in good condition..

In March 2002 we started a new project under sponsorship of Simon Phon from Malaysia's Melcom Florence Masta Blasta bibbless lures and poppers. F.A.D.'s and artificial reef were constructed on the west coast of Phuket's continental shelf.

M/Y Sadayu

Sadayu is a 46 foot Symbol built in 1995 and completely re-fitted in September 1998 to be used as a deluxe fishing boat. It has a top speed of around 28 knots and a cruising speed of 20 knots. Sadayu is probably the most luxurious gamefishing charter boat in S.E. Asia. The crew is Amanpuri trained.

Charter rates for "Reel Hooker"

• Day charter: 23 000 Thai Bath
• Liveaboard charter: 30 000 Thai Bath/day ( Similan or Rok Nok islands )
• All charters include: Transfer to and from the hotel, soft drinks, water, use of all fishing equipment and bait.
• On day charters we serve lunch and fruits. On live aboard charters all meals included (mixture of Asian and western food). Special food can be arranged
